PortDrop releases

Every PortDrop release, newest first, with notes, downloads, and checksums. The latest is PortDrop 1.2.1, published October 11, 2026.

You rarely need this page to update: PortDrop looks for new versions once a day and offers to install them (⚙︎ → Check for Updates…), and Homebrew users can run brew upgrade --cask portdrop. Prefer a feed? Subscribe to the releases Atom feed.

PortDrop 1.1.0

Docker-aware ports

Docker Desktop and OrbStack publish every container port from one background process, so until now each of those rows just said com.docker.backend, and Kill would have taken down the whole Docker backend.

  • Named by service. PortDrop asks docker ps which container is behind each published port and shows the compose service (or container name) as the headline, with a Docker chip and the project underneath. The backend process, PID, and container are in the tooltip.
  • Right protocol, right link. The container's own port decides the protocol, so a Postgres published on 5433 is labelled Postgres with a working postgresql://localhost:5433 link.
  • Down instead of Kill. Click the Docker button, then Confirm, and PortDrop runs docker compose down for that one service. Right-click for Down project to take down every container in the compose project, or to kill the Docker backend itself if you really mean to. Containers that aren't part of a compose project get docker stop. Volumes are never removed.
  • Search now matches service, project, and container names.
  • Nothing changes for Macs without Docker: the docker CLI is only run when a Docker host process is actually listening, and a stopped or missing Docker just shows the rows as before.
